Chrismas gift for my brother

I'm looking to buy my brother a buggy kit as a Christmas present. could anyone recommend a complete kit for around £300/$450?

From what I've seen all kits require you to buy the motor, servo and radio kit separately. I know that he would like a brushless motor and lithium batteries but that is the extent of my knowledge.

A decent chassis is the priority so he has something he can use as he progresses with the hobby. Thanks in advance, Robbie

I've looked at some of their kits but I'm after something that is more geared towards performance. In your opinion, would a Tamiya kit be something he could keep if he became involved in a local club? this is the one I keep going back to http://www.modelsport.co.uk/team-losi-racing-1-10-22-2.0-2wd-buggy-race-kit/rc-car-products/378845

I'm unsure of motors etc, that will be compatible

He has a drift car he is always tinkering with. As kids we both had, and loved, nitro buggy's.

again, thanks for your help :)

Have a look at PBM models on ebay.  Currently have RB One R 1/8 Electric kits for silly silly money (thanks to RB going under / selling up or something).  You'll have a huge amount of cash spare to get a combo (motor and esc) to power it, as well as a servo and radio gear.  You could talk to pbm directly if you wanted a deal for everything from one place (as they don't pay ebay fees).

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SALE-RB-E-One-R-1-8th-Scale-Electric-RC-4wd-Buggy-Pro-Kit-RB-0230005-/331715438662?hash=item4d3bc7e846

They may recommend the RB electrics from the RTR to go in - there TORO rebrands and a few people have found the Toro ESC to be not that clever, though there very good value thanks to the situation with RB.

Very much a performance buggy, if your wanting beaucoup speed from it on 4S then look for a motor 2200kv plus.
