Stuffed Crank

ROBSTER 1992

Recommended Posts

stuffed crank.

means unlike normal cranks, a stuffed crank has some of the space filled in with a resin or likes.

there is also crankcase stuffing, this is where material is removed to allow more volume, but it can either help or hinder an engines output.

both are a type of race tune upgrade, you would tend to run a stuffed crank thats a little longer and also have the crankcase stuffed, after those mods are done, you would then move onto having the ports widened and smoothed out  and a bore change adding a bigger piston and bore, couple it with a tuned up pipe and your now at a racing level engine that can be highly tuned, after all that goes the clutch and flywheel mods, lighter flywheel and a more grippy clutch.

Flywheels are generally lightened on this 2 strokes by trimming the cooling fins down with a grinder.  This has to be done very carefully so as to not affect the balance of the flywheel otherwise your crank would be having massive vibrations.

The problem with lightening the flywheel is you lose some of the cooling ability as the fins push air over the motor.  Too much removal and you might cook your motor.
